Packing and delivery questions for a sculpture commission
Plan sculpture packing, receiving access and delivery responsibilities with us before dispatch. Use this checklist to prepare the information for your destination.

Start at the receiving location
Record the address region, access limitations, unloading arrangements and route to the final position. The packed dimensions may differ from the installed dimensions. A large base, fragile projection or separate component can change handling requirements even when the artwork’s overall height is unchanged.

Ask what the quotation includes
We work through packing, domestic movement, international freight, insurance, customs handling, unloading and local installation with you. Tell us which services you need so the proposal can identify each agreed responsibility.
Confirm the packing proposal for the actual form
We plan packing around the approved form: its supports, separate components and surfaces that need protection. We agree the relevant inspection photographs and receiving procedure with you so the packing and handling information matches your artwork.

Keep the receiving record
Keep the component list, agreed handling instructions and project contact details together. When the artwork arrives, follow the receiving procedure and contact us with any transit questions. We review the insurance and warranty terms applicable to your order in the agreement.
Request a dispatch information pack
Ask for the agreed component list, packed dimensions, gross weights where available, receiving instructions and the current delivery contact. Check that the documents refer to the approved artwork and revision. If the delivery arrangement changes, confirm the revised responsibilities before dispatch rather than relying on an earlier quotation.
Receiving conditions belong in the first logistics brief
A sculpture delivery checklist should begin with the destination. An artwork receiving route includes the unloading point, doors, lifts, stairs, turning areas and final position. For large sculpture transport planning, provide measured restrictions where available and label unmeasured areas. A sculpture packing quotation should respond to the actual approved form, rather than a generic claim that a crate will fit every receiving route.
Separate transport stages and responsibility
For sculpture delivery scope, identify packing, dispatch, main transport, customs arrangements where applicable, local receiving, lifting and installation. A sculpture shipping inquiry should name the destination and ask which stages the proposed offer covers. An artwork handling plan must be relevant to the accepted design and packing arrangement. A sculpture logistics comparison should record exclusions and responsible parties so a lower quoted artwork price is not mistaken for the same delivered scope.
Request the dispatch information relevant to your project
Your sculpture dispatch document request can include approved drawings, component identification, packing information and agreed handling guidance. We discuss sculpture arrival inspection with you so the received package and components can be checked against that record. A sculpture delivery acceptance follows the agreed receiving procedure, with design and functional reviews recorded at their relevant stages. Keep the order and shipment reference together for follow-up with us.
Bring this to your project brief
- The exact artwork or model reference.
- Dimensions with units, body/base distinction and intended setting.
- The questions still requiring material, scope or site confirmation.

Questions about Packing and delivery questions for a sculpture commission.
Discuss your requirements ↗What should I measure before planning sculpture delivery?
Measure the receiving route and final position where possible, including doors, lifts, stairs and turning restrictions. Distinguish measured values from assumptions and request actual packed dimensions for the accepted item.
Does an artwork quotation include customs and local lifting?
Not automatically. Ask which transport, customs, receiving, lifting and installation stages are included and who is responsible for the remaining work.
How do you plan packing for a sculpture?
We prepare the packing discussion around the approved sculpture and its components. Ask us for the packed dimensions, weight and handling arrangement needed to plan receiving at your site.
What information should I request before dispatch?
Agree the relevant component, packing, handling and receiving information with the supplier. Identify which drawings and approval references will accompany the accepted scope.
What should be recorded when a sculpture arrives?
Keep the project and shipment reference, package condition, received components and any concerns, with photographs where appropriate. Follow the inspection and reporting arrangement agreed for the order.
Is installation the same as delivery to the venue?
We agree unloading, receiving, handling, assembly and final installation as distinct parts of your delivery scope. Tell us which stages you need us to coordinate.
